muscles need
First of all I would like to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question that
I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts
before writing. I’ve had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting
my thoughts out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or
hints? Kudos!

Don’t choose a subject to write about – free writing is one of the best methods I’ve used to free my mind to write. Set a time (15 minutes?), sit wherever you feel comfortable with pen and paper or your computer keyboard, look, listen and feel your surroundings – then just write whatever you are seeing, feeling or hearing. It doesn’t have to tell a story or even make sense (for instance, it could just be a series of random words that come to mind like “bright, loud, hot, busy…) The idea is just to get the words out. If you feel like writing sentences, descriptions for example, do so. Maybe you’ll look at a wall that needs painting and want to mention that, or even ask “why the heck did I ever choose that color?” For 15 minutes there are no writing rules, goals or limits. This free-writing exercise is akin to stretching and loosening your mind. You’ll find that words come easier after your free-write sessions. Good luck to you.
